Admin Panel – Start Here

Your WP admin panel address is – http://yoursite.com///wp-admin – Bookmark this for easier access in the future.

Your username will be admin and your password is usually what is used for your hosting account. This can be changed in the “Profile” section.

wplogin

When you log in to your WP admin panel you will be looking at what is called the “Dashboard.” This is an overall look at all settings.

wpdashboard

What you will find here:

Posts – is where you create and edit your posts, add tags, and create categories.

Media – is where you upload image, audio, and video files to be used in posts and pages. All uploads are stored in the Media Library.

Links – is where you place URL addresses to outside sources. These links can be shown in your sidebar and can be sorted into multiple categories.

Pages – is where pages are created. Pages are different than posts as they are named in the menu but are not shown on the front page of your blog.

Comments – is where you can edit, approve, or delete comments made from visitors.

Appearance – is where you install/select themes to use, control sidebar widgets, and edit PHP/CSS files.

Plugins – is where you upload, activate, and deactivate plugins.

Users – is where you can set your author(s) names, adjust user permissions, edit your profile, and set additional options.

Tools – is where you can find browser and file management tools, import/export blog posts and comments from another system, and upgrade/backup WP.

Settings – is where the general controls for your blog can be found. Any plugin and theme controls will be listed in this section, and below it.

I highly recommended that you become familiar with all of these individual controls before making any changes.

Your best bet is to adjust the “Settings” to your liking and experiment with the other sections prior to making your blog “live.”

Each of the sections listed above will be covered in detail and listed in the “WordPress Tutorials” menu as they are created.
